Car
Insurance Comparisons
Car
insurance only ever seems to go up in cost each
year, so to get the best deal it is vital that
you compare car insurance provider's quotes
when your insurance policy is getting near to
its renewal date. Most car insurance policies
auto-renew each year, the policy provider will
send you a renewal letter telling you how much
next year's policy will cost you and give you
an opportunity to cancel, however if you do
nothing then your policy will automatically
renew to ensure you remain legally covered and
insured to drive. It also however makes things
easier for the car insurance company - the fact
it auto-renews means if you do not shop around
you automatically accept the price they've offered
you, and that price may not be the cheapest
out there.
Many
years ago, before car insurance comparisons
were made easy by UK comparison websites, it
was a lot more difficult to see who gave the
cheapest car insurance price for your requirements.
You would need to take a good few hours and
a yellow pages, then ring around all the insurance
companies and supply them with the same answers
to the same questions each time, it was often
a long and boring process. This process often
taking 15-plus minutes per quote, so most people
would only get a few quotes before accepting
whichever one they thought to be best.
Fast-forward
several years and car insurance comparisons
have never been easier. Now you can simply input
all your details into one quote form on a car
insurance comparison website and their software
will automatically search all the car insurers
in one go and display their quotes for you to
choose from. You can then normally go on to
buy your car insurance online and receive instant
cover. With car insurance comparisons made so
easy, there really isn't any excuse for paying
more for your policy than necessary any more.
Car
insurance comparisons are now available via
most of the major comparison websites - they
have relationships with all the major car insurance
companies and plug directly into their quoting
software so you get to see all the car insurance
comparisons upfront, plus specific policy details,
restrictions, and any other important information
such as windscreen cover, temporary replacement
vehicle cover, European cover, etc that may
or may not be included within your proposed
policy. Remember to check all of these points
within the policy information before accepting
a quote - one company may be a little cheaper
than another but they may not include important
cover that you feel you need. You can normally
tweak the car insurance comparison quotes to
add/remove cover, and this may then give you
a more accurate comparison between the two or
three insurance providers you have narrowed
your choice down to.
If
you have more questions regarding your proposed
car insurance policy, you should consider calling
them up rather than buying car insurance online
- whilst you may need to hold for a while on
their customer care phone line, it at least
allows you to clarify the points you are not
clear on and ensure that the car insurance policy
is the right one for you. Most car insurance
comparisons online will give you a reference
number to quote, make a note of this and give
it to the person you speak with. It will call
up your quote on their screen and also fix the
price at the figure quoted online. Always get
your initial quote online first, many car insurance
companies offer their cheapest quotes online
- if you call up to get a quote it can often
be more expensive. Through getting your quote
online first, you are locking that price in
even if you do need to call up before buying
your car insurance policy.
